Rolling Thunder (1977) Blu-Ray
A solid start to the week, I’m so happy that this has finally got a Blu-Ray release which means we don’t have to endure the horrendous violence with Dutch subtitles;
I’m pleasantly surprised at this as the movie wasn’t even on DVD until now, leaving exploitation fans such as yours truly to resort to fragile VHS tapes to get our grindhouse kicks. If this film teaches us anything – and it does gentle reader, it does – its that it’s best not to torture and mutilate psychologically scarred Vietnam vets, brutally murder their family, then leave them with a couple of slugs in the gut instead finishing them off with a few rounds to the skull. Sadly, it’s a lesson that doesn’t seem to be covered by the national curriculum these days….
Now where’s that release of Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS or The Witch Who Came From The Sea then hmmm?? Some further good news has come in the way of a sizeable tax refund, the first ever of my wretched career. I intend to go to town with further rays of blu acquisitions, beginning with the likes of last years best which came out today (Tinker Tailor, Drive, Tree Of Life), an upgrade for some old favourites (Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Eyes Wide Shut, Martyrs) and hoard the rest for a certain iPad3 release which I think is due in March…
